We’re going to let you in on a little secret here, because when this epic couple asked us to be their Ibiza wedding photographer, that meant not one but five days of fantastic plans! In this blog, you’ll get an inside peek at Kenton and Hassiba’s wedding day in Ibiza.
But there was so much happiness, beauty and excitement for the entire wedding week that we can’t resist sharing the rest with you too, so keep your eyes peeled on the blog for more. From a location shoot to the big day, we captured it all as their Ibiza wedding photographer.
An ocean proposal
Groom Kenton had planned the perfect proposal for Hassiba in Thailand – or so he thought. He’d organised a romantic dinner for two on a sandbar in the sea. After being seated at the table for a short time, thunder and lightning arrived, causing Kenton to temporarily abandon his plans.
Back on shore, the couple enjoyed cocktails with friends until, as if by magic, the weather subsided.
“I’d noticed Kenton and our friends finishing the set up at the table again. Then awkwardly, a waitress serving me asked when our wedding was!” Hassiba laughs.
Not letting factors beyond their control take anything away from the moment, the couple returned to the sandbar, surrounded by flickering candles.
“Kenton had arranged for my favourite music to be played. The atmosphere was filled with romance and Kenton proposed as my favourite track played. We were overcome with tears and embraced… just as a waiter arrived with Champagne to celebrate what he thought was a birthday!”
Despite the hiccups, it’s safe to say this couple had the most romantic proposal and filled it with laughter too. To celebrate, their friends gifted them a memory lantern to release and fire dancers created a breath-taking show.
Save the date
Taking romance to an entirely new level, this couple chose their wedding date to be as close as possible to the anniversary of their proposal.
“The Mediterranean is not far from both our families’ homes and when Hassiba suggested Ibiza as a place she had a connection with, I surprised her by jumping at the chance!” smiles Kenton. “The island’s energy represented us as a couple, especially close to the summer solstice.”
Feels like fate
“Hassiba found Ibiza wedding photographer Beziique online by chance and kept their webpage open for a few weeks to remind herself to get in touch and ask about availability. Luckily, the day she finally reached out ended up being their own wedding day! What a good omen!”
“They later told us that when they’d checked availability, it was fate because they had closed the year for bookings but somehow had an empty slot on our wedding dates!”
The jungle and stars
This was the inspiration for bride Hassiba’s couture gown, designed by Lebanese designer Rami Kadi.
“My dress was inspired by the beach, jungle and stars – the three elements that surrounded us on our wedding day. Luminescent threads were woven through so my gown glowed in the dark and the bodice had twinkling LEDs embedded into crystallised star constellations. Tropical flowers flowed over the skirt while palm leaves surrounded the hem of my A-line dress.”
The groom also opted for a bespoke ensemble, sporting a Chris Kerr suit. In a totally unique and romantic move, he chose an embroidered piece of tulle from his bride’s dress for his pocket square.
The dream team
Hassiba’s sister and best friend joined her as bridesmaids, wearing Temperley dresses from the aptly named ‘Constellations’ collection.
“They each wore a differently cut dress and held a piece of embroidered pastel tulle around the bouquets.”
When the stars align…
One of the strongest memories from Kenton and Hassiba’s time in Thailand following the proposal was Coldplay’s ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ playing on the radio.
“The stars aligning for the adventure of a lifetime became the theme for our wedding. It reflected the journey of our relationship, from our first kiss on a deserted beach to our engagement in Thailand and travels in between.”
A beachside ceremony
The couple tied the knot on the beach as a direct nod to their story so far. The ceremony was deeply romantic and a dream to photograph as their Ibiza wedding photographer.
The bride carried a stunning bouquet filled with tropical and desert flowers. Dream catchers, suspended crystals and pampas grass and tropical leaf arrangements surrounded them.
Global grazing
“We chose cuisines from countries we’ve travelled to for the reception dinner. The tables weren’t traditionally decorated for a wedding. Instead, it was like a luxurious music, arts and cultural festival, where each food stall was decorated in the style of its region. We used a lot of performance to entice guests to interact with each area, as well as a lot of lighting to perfect the mood.” La Grand Bouffe created the culinary and theatrical masterpiece.
“Afterwards, we literally took our guests on an adventure to learn about the stars with astrologers and have their tarot cards read.” Then it was into the jungle party barn for the newlyweds and their guests to dance the night away.
A five-tier cake
The couple’s intricately adorned five-tier wedding cake was a show-stopper.
The design began with astrological constellations on the top tiers, followed by two monkey mascots, a cascade of tropical flowers, geode detailing and pampas grass and foliage to finish.
Festival entertainment
“We had performers at every food stall, from fire dancers to flamingo players to fete stalls and belly dancers. Our band, The Egg, were British and we’d spotted them at a festival in England a year before. For the after-party in the jungle, we had more Burning Man festival-inspired performers. Guests also had neon glitter face painting and games to enjoy.”
Capturing this line-up of exciting entertainment was a brilliant opportunity for us as their Ibiza wedding photographer. It’s amazing to see the fun and atmosphere of their party live on in the photos.
Honeymoon for two
Truly personalised and filled with emotion, Kenton and Hassiba’s wedding was a pleasure to capture as their Ibiza wedding photographer. It sounds like their honeymoon was no different, because here’s what they say were the best bits:
“We learned to surf together, quad biked in the jungle, trekked around ancient Inca ruins and went sight-seeing aboard Belmond’s luxury sleeper train. The whole five weeks were both very romantic and super adventurous!” The perfect honeymoon for this wonderful couple – may we wish them a lifetime of love and adventures.
