Excited does not even begin to describe the feeling when we learned Natalie and Jack’s dream day could go ahead, despite covid-19 wedding restrictions. And where better to be, than one of our all-time favourite venues as a top Liopetro wedding photographer?

Natalie and Jack were a super cool couple and their covid-19 wedding was sensational. Proof that you can enjoy all the beauty and magic despite these challenging times! They celebrated with an open-air ceremony and heart-fluttering fireworks and we snapped up every moment as their Cyprus wedding photographer. Now, they’re here to tell you more about their big day. Enjoy!

Popping the question
“I had surprised Natalie with a week’s holiday in Latchi, Cyprus (somewhere we stay every year) for her 25th birthday,” explains Jack. “I’d also planned for all her closest friends (and future bridesmaids!) to meet us out there over the course of the week as a surprise.”
“As for the proposal, I hadn’t planned the exact time or place but decided to do it on the balcony overlooking the harbour at sunset, disguised as a selfie! We spent the rest of the evening drinking champagne and eating free fruit boards down on the beach.”

Love at first sight
Cyprus is home to hundreds of gorgeous wedding venues – grand and small, bohemian and buzzy or romantic and rustic. You name it, you’ll find it here (and our pick of Cyprus wedding venues is a great place to start!). But for Natalie and Jack, there was only one, and as a top Liopetro wedding photographer, we were stoked!
“We had seen Liopetro online and loved the look of it, so we knew it was somewhere we definitely wanted to check out. When we got to Cyprus to look at venues it was the first place we went to see and we both fell in love with it and knew straight away it was where we wanted to get married. The simple rustic feel and privacy of the venue is what sold it for us, plus the stunning view!”

Finding the one
The bride glowed in a totally chic Enzoani design. “It was the first one she tried on,” smiles Jack, “she’d seen it online and knew it was the one she wanted! It was a full length mermaid gown with a lace bodice and sweetheart neckline.”
And for the groom?

“I wore a DKNY ‘Summer Navy’ suit, something extremely light given the heat!”
Nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen joined the couple, with the bridesmaids wearing stunning pale blue floor-length designs, choosing from two styles.

Saying ‘I do’
Natalie and Jack tied the knot in the glorious Cyprus sunshine on a private and peaceful terrace at Liopetro. Bright bougainvillea blooms, honey coloured stone and clear blue skies formed the perfect backdrop for us as their Cyprus wedding photographer. The couple added their dream finishing touches with gauzy drapes adorning a romantic arch laden with whimsical white blooms.

“Seeing everyone’s smiling faces as we got married, and the happiness of the moment, were highlights for us,” smile the couple. “We also loved the readings our mums gave at the end. It was amazing to see how many people had come out to Cyprus given the situation!”
We were over the moon to capture the magic as Natalie and Jack celebrated their covid-19 wedding in Cyprus. Some things are simply unstoppable and as top Liopetro wedding photographers, we’d say love is right up there!

Natural beauty
“We wanted to keep the decorations quite minimal, not wanting to detract from the beauty of the venue itself, so we opted for eucalyptus aisle ends for the ceremony and table runners. We’d named our tables after some of our favourite places in Cyprus and used wooden cut-outs for the place names too.”
Superstar planner Marry Me Cyprus helped the couple pull off their perfect day. And in readiness for one truly epic party, Natalie and Jack even gifted each of their guests a hangover pack as a favour.

Party time!
“Marry Me Cyprus surprised us with a Saxophonist during our welcome drinks and he was amazing and really set the mood! We hired Kirsty Dewar to sing at the wedding after Jack had met her at a gig in Akrotiri and the guests loved her. Following Kirsty was a DJ who played our favourite songs and some that got the oldies up dancing!”

The couple and their guests also tucked into a delicious barbecue expertly created by Liopetro chefs. “Mezzes are one of our favourite things when we come to Cyprus and we wanted to make sure we had some traditional Cypriot food in the mix.” A totally crowd pleasing meal with a laid-back, buzzy vibe – we couldn’t have chosen better ourselves as their top Liopetro wedding photographer!
Flights, camera, action
“We had been shown a couple of photographers’ portfolios when we first met up with Marry Me Cyprus. Straight away Beziique was our first choice. We wanted a mix of photos that were majority natural and candid as opposed to the heavily edited, set up photos and Beziique fit that perfectly, capturing reactions and the “real” moments of the day whilst also setting us up perfectly for the incredible couples photos we got.”
“We’re not the most comfortable people in front of cameras and it can feel awkward but Nick and Amie instantly put us at ease and were brilliant at getting us where we needed to be! Needless to say we’re extremely happy with how the photography turned out!”

Wise words
“Get a planner and trust the process,” Natalie and Jack advise. “Having someone that has the experience and contacts in the country is so beneficial and I really don’t think we’d have had half as good a day without them.”
“It’s very easy to let everything pile up on top of you and stress you out but our planners, Marry Me Cyprus, were fantastic, not just in the actual planning of a wedding but in managing our expectations and reassuring us during the covid-19 period.”
“Also, invest in your photographers and videographers, there’s so much going on you’ll want them to go back and look at in the future!”
It’s a wrap!
