Engagement and Pre-Wedding Shoots in Cyprus

A pre-wedding shoot is the loveliest way to start your Cyprus wedding story before the day itself even arrives. Whether you live on the island, are out scouting venues, or want to fold a couples session into the days around your wedding, an hour or two with a camera at golden hour gives you something most couples never have — relaxed, beautiful photographs of just the two of you, with no timeline, no guests waiting, and nothing to do but enjoy each other's company. After fifteen years and more than a thousand weddings across Cyprus, we've come to believe these shoots are quietly some of the most useful — and most romantic — time you can spend with your photographers.

We're Nick and Aimie Wild, the husband-and-wife team behind Beziique. Our style is documentary and emotional rather than posed and stiff, which suits an engagement shoot perfectly: we'd far rather catch you laughing at something silly than line you up against a wall and ask you to say cheese. This page covers why a pre-wedding shoot is worth doing, the Cyprus locations we love most for couples, what a session actually feels like, and how to get one booked. If you'd like to see the kind of images we make, our portfolio is the best place to start.

Why have a pre-wedding shoot

The single biggest reason to book a pre-wedding shoot is that it makes you comfortable in front of a camera before the day that really matters. Almost every couple tells us they feel awkward being photographed — it's completely normal. An engagement session is a low-stakes hour where you get used to how we work, how we gently guide you, and how little you actually have to "do". By the time your wedding morning arrives, we're not strangers with a long lens; we're the people who already know that you hold hands when you're nervous and that one of you always laughs first. That ease shows in every wedding photograph that follows.

Beyond the practical, a pre-wedding shoot simply gives you more of something you can never have too much of: lovely pictures of the two of you, together, in a place that means something. Wedding days are busy and full of other people. A couples session is unhurried and entirely yours. Many couples use the images for save-the-dates, for a guest sign-in book or wall at the reception, for the order of service, or simply framed at home — and because they're shot well before the wedding, there's plenty of time to use them however you like.

There's a sentimental case too. If you're a UK couple marrying in Cyprus, a pre-wedding shoot can be the first proper moment of your trip — a chance to step off the plane, breathe in the warm air, and mark the start of the week with something just for you. For couples who already live on the island, it captures Cyprus as home rather than as a holiday backdrop. Either way, you end up with photographs that hold the feeling of this particular chapter, before the confetti and the speeches. To understand how a session fits into the bigger picture, our Cyprus wedding photography guide walks through how we approach the whole experience.

Our favourite Cyprus locations

Cyprus is spoilt for beautiful backdrops, and the right location depends entirely on the feeling you're after. For drama and texture, nothing beats the Ozea sea caves near Peyia and the western coast — honey-coloured rock formations carved by the sea, with hidden coves and arches that glow when the sun drops low. They photograph extraordinarily well and feel wonderfully cinematic, especially in the last hour before sunset when the stone turns amber and the water goes still.

For something softer and more romantic, the quiet beaches and clifftop coves of the Paphos coastline are hard to beat — and, as Paphos wedding photographers, they are right on our doorstep. Spots like Atlantida Beach in Paphos give you open sand, gentle waves and uninterrupted horizons — ideal for barefoot, windswept couple portraits where it's just the two of you and the sea. We love these locations early in the morning before the beaches fill, or in the golden hour at the other end of the day. We can also work with olive groves, vineyards, harbour fronts, old-town streets and rugged headlands depending on the mood you want; Cyprus offers everything from wild and elemental to lush and pastoral, often within a short drive of one another.

When we plan your shoot, we'll suggest a location based on where you're staying, the time of day, the season, and the kind of images you've fallen for. Light is everything to us, so we time sessions carefully — usually around sunrise or the golden hour before sunset, when the harsh midday glare softens into something flattering and warm. If you'd like to understand how the island's seasons and light shape what's possible, our guide to the best light and weather for Cyprus wedding photography explains exactly when and where the magic happens. You can also browse real couples and locations across our portfolio to find a setting that feels like you.

What to expect on the day

A pre-wedding shoot with us is deliberately relaxed. We'll meet you at the chosen spot, usually for around an hour to ninety minutes, and we start by simply walking and chatting — no big poses, no pressure. As you settle in, we guide you with small, easy prompts: walk towards us, whisper something only the two of you would find funny, watch the sunset together. The result is natural, candid images that look like you, because they are you. We do all the directing so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.

Timing matters more than anything, so we'll almost always shoot in soft light — early morning or the golden hour before sunset. In high summer that means an early start or a late finish to avoid the midday heat, while spring and autumn give us beautifully long, gentle windows of light. We'll tell you honestly what to expect for your date and location so there are no surprises. Wear something you feel wonderful in — most couples bring one relaxed outfit and sometimes a slightly dressier second look — and comfortable shoes if we're scrambling over rocks at the sea caves.

The mood is the thing we care about most. We're a calm, friendly presence, not a drill sergeant with a shot list, and our job is to make the whole experience feel like a nice evening out that happens to produce gorgeous photographs. Aimie, who is also a wedding singer, has a particular knack for putting nervous couples at ease — so even if you're convinced you're "not photogenic", you're in safe hands. Afterwards, you'll receive a fully edited gallery of images in our signature documentary style, ready to enjoy and share.

Booking your shoot

Booking a pre-wedding shoot is wonderfully simple. If you're already a Beziique wedding couple, an engagement session can be added to your collection — many of our wedding clients build one in around the days before the wedding, or arrange it on a separate scouting trip. If you're not getting married with us but would still love a Cyprus couples session — perhaps you live here, or you're celebrating an anniversary or engagement — we're very happy to shoot standalone sessions too. Either way, the first step is a quick conversation about what you have in mind.

To check availability and pricing, take a look at our investment page for an overview of how we work, and then drop us a line through our contact page with your dates, where you're staying and the kind of locations and feeling you're drawn to. We'll come back with honest advice on the best location and time of day, and help you build a session that suits you. We only take on a limited number of weddings and shoots each year so that every couple gets our full attention, so the sooner you're in touch, the more we can plan around your perfect light.

We'd genuinely love to photograph the two of you somewhere beautiful in Cyprus. Whether it's the amber arches of the sea caves or a quiet stretch of sand at sunset, a pre-wedding shoot is the gentlest, loveliest way to begin your wedding story — get in touch and let's find your spot.

  • How soon will we get our wedding photos?

Your full, hand-edited gallery is delivered in approximately 6–10 weeks. Every image is individually edited in our signature documentary style — we never cut corners on the part that lasts a lifetime.

  • When is the best time of year to get married in Cyprus?

The most popular months are May–June and September–October, when temperatures sit around a comfortable 20–26°C and the light is soft and golden — ideal for photography. July and August are the hottest (often 32°C and above), so we recommend later-afternoon and sunset ceremonies in high summer. The shoulder seasons give the best light, while winter is the cheapest and quietest time to marry in Cyprus if you want an intimate, low-cost celebration.

  • Where are the best spots for a Cyprus engagement shoot?

Our favourite locations are the dramatic Ozea sea caves on the western coast, where honey-coloured rock and hidden coves glow at golden hour, along with the quiet beaches and golden-hour clifftops around Paphos for something softer and more romantic. The right spot really depends on the feeling you want — wild and cinematic, or barefoot and serene — and the time of day we shoot. We'll suggest a location based on where you're staying, the season and the light. The best way to get a feel for what's possible is to browse our portfolio and tell us which images speak to you.

  • How far is Cyprus to fly from the UK?

Cyprus is roughly a 4.5-hour direct flight from the UK, with regular services into both Paphos (PFO) and Larnaca (LCA) airports. That short-haul distance is one of the reasons Cyprus is so popular for UK destination weddings — it's easy for guests of all ages to join you, with no long-haul jet lag.
