Getting Married in Larnaca
Larnaca is, for many UK couples, the most practical place in Cyprus to get married — and quietly one of the most charming. It is the town you land in: Larnaca (LCA) airport sits right on the edge of the city, so within twenty minutes of stepping off the plane your guests can have their feet up by the sea. That ease shapes everything that follows. Less time in transfers means more time together, a gentler arrival for older relatives and little ones, and a wedding week that starts relaxed rather than frazzled.
But convenience is only half the story. Larnaca keeps the working rhythm of a real Cypriot town — the palm-lined Finikoudes promenade, the fishing harbour, the old salt lake where flamingos gather in winter — alongside a generous spread of wedding settings, from seafront hotels to private estates in the countryside just inland. We are Nick and Aimie Wild of Beziique, and after fifteen years and more than a thousand weddings photographed across Cyprus, Larnaca is somewhere we return to with real affection. This guide walks UK couples through why the region works, where to actually get married, and how the legal side fits together.

Why marry in Larnaca
The single biggest reason is the airport. Larnaca's proximity to LCA is unmatched anywhere else on the island, and for a destination wedding that matters more than couples expect. When your venue is a short hop from arrivals, you can invite the guests you really want without asking them to commit to long, expensive travel days. It also gives you flexibility: a Friday-night arrival can still mean a Saturday welcome dinner, and nobody is writing off half their trip to coaches and connections.
Beyond the logistics, Larnaca has variety. Within a thirty-minute radius you can hold a barefoot celebration on the sand, a civil ceremony in a smart seafront hotel, or a long table under olive trees at a rural estate — and you are never far from a hotel base for your guests. The town itself is walkable and unpretentious, with tavernas, cafes and a sandy town beach, which makes it an easy place for a wedding party to gather and explore between the formal moments.
It is also a region that suits the couples we photograph best: those who want their day to feel like an actual holiday with the people they love, not a stiff production. Larnaca rewards that mood. Best Larnaca wedding venues
Larnaca and its surrounding villages offer a genuinely broad spread of settings, so the right choice usually comes down to the atmosphere you are after rather than what is available. A few we love:
Lexeko Estate — a beautifully restored country estate inland from Larnaca, all stone, courtyards and old-world character. It suits couples who want a private, all-day venue with real Cypriot soul rather than a hotel feel, and the pine-shaded grounds glow beautifully once the string lights come on at dusk. See our work and full notes on Lexeko Estate.
A little further along the coast, Galu Seaside at Mazotos is one of the most relaxed beachfront settings on this stretch of coastline, where the ceremony happens with the sea as your backdrop and the reception flows straight into a coastal sunset — take a look at Galu Seaside. Closer to the airport, the Palm Beach Hotel keeps everything in one place, which couples with travelling guests often appreciate, while Honeyli Hill trades the coast for countryside views and a more rustic, outdoor-leaning day.
Each of these works differently on the day. Lexeko gives you the run of the place and a slower, more private pace; a seafront option like Galu Seaside or Palm Beach Hotel keeps your guests close to the water and to their rooms. There is no single "best" venue in Larnaca — there is the one that matches how you want the day to feel, and we are happy to talk through how each photographs once you have a shortlist.
When you visit or enquire, it is worth asking each venue the practical questions early: whether they can host a legal civil ceremony on site or only a symbolic one, how many guests the space comfortably seats, what time the sun drops behind the buildings or the sea, and whether they have a wet-weather plan. Those answers shape your timeline far more than the brochure photos do.

The popular town-hall civil ceremony
The classic Larnaca wedding for UK couples is the civil ceremony at the town hall. The Marriage Officer in the district where you marry conducts a legally binding civil ceremony, and Larnaca's town-hall ceremony has long been a favourite precisely because it is straightforward, official and easy to combine with a celebration elsewhere afterwards. Many couples do exactly that: a short, legal town-hall ceremony, then on to a venue or the beach for the party.
The paperwork is more manageable than most people fear. There's no residency requirement: you apply in person to the local Marriage Officer at least one working day before you marry, and bring your documents — valid passports, birth certificates, a sworn declaration of single status, and a decree absolute if either of you has been divorced. Around three working days is generally preferred as a comfortable buffer to get the licence processed. A good local wedding planner will lodge the application and shepherd the documents for you, which is well worth it from the UK.
If a register-office-style ceremony is not the picture you have in your head, you have options. Many licensed venues around Larnaca can host the legal civil ceremony on site, so you can marry in the gardens of an estate or on a seafront terrace rather than at the town hall. Alternatively, couples sometimes complete a small legal ceremony and add a symbolic celebration in the setting they have dreamed of. Whichever route you choose, the legal marriage is fully recognised back home, with no need to re-register in the UK.

Your Larnaca wedding photographer
We are Nick and Aimie Wild, and we photograph weddings the way they actually unfold — the quiet glance before the ceremony, the unguarded laughter at the speeches, the dancing that nobody plans. Our style is documentary and emotional rather than staged, which means we spend the day looking for real moments and the warm Larnaca light that flatters them. Aimie is also a wedding singer, so we understand the rhythm of a celebration from both sides of it, and we know how to be present without ever getting in the way.
Knowing Larnaca well makes a practical difference. We know which estate courtyards glow at golden hour, where the sun sits over the sea at Mazotos in different months, and how to keep a relaxed beach wedding feeling effortless on camera. We have worked across the region's venues and we plan each day around its light, not against it. You can see how that looks across our recent weddings in our portfolio.
If you are still mapping out the bigger picture — flights, accommodation and looking after everyone who is travelling with you — our guest information and travel guide covers the essentials, and our Larnaca wedding photographer page goes deeper into what working with us looks like. When you are ready to talk dates, we would love to hear about your day.

The easiest airport on the island, the same care every time
A short transfer shouldn't mean a rushed wedding. Here's what we bring to a Larnaca day.
Two Photographers, One Story
With our Premium Plus and Luxury collections, Nick and Aimie shoot together — both sides of the day, covered at once. Whichever collection you choose, it is always Nick or Aimie, never an associate you've never met.
Exactly who you see is exactly who shows up.
Estate Or Seafront, We Know Both
From the pine-shaded courtyards at Lexeko to the pebble shore at Galu Seaside, we've photographed Larnaca's full range of settings and know how the light moves at each.
Local knowledge, not a familiarisation trip.
Full Galleries, Not Highlights
We're always happy to share a complete wedding from start to finish — not a curated reel — so you know exactly what your own day will look like.
Ask to see the whole thing. We'll show you.

How far is Cyprus to fly from the UK?
Direct flights from the UK take around four and a half hours into Cyprus, and as the island's main gateway, Larnaca (LCA) handles the busiest share of that traffic — easyJet, British Airways, Jet2 and TUI all run regular routes from airports across the UK. Paphos (PFO) is the other option to the west, but for a Larnaca wedding there's rarely a reason to fly anywhere else.
How long do we have to be in Cyprus before a Larnaca wedding?
Larnaca's town hall handles the paperwork for couples marrying in the district, and there's no residency requirement: you apply in person at least one working day before the ceremony, with around three working days generally preferred as a comfortable buffer. Given how close the airport sits to town, plenty of Larnaca couples arrive only a few days early and still have time to spare before the wedding.
What's the difference between a civil, symbolic and church wedding in Cyprus?
A civil ceremony is the legally binding option, conducted by a Marriage Officer at Larnaca town hall or an approved venue nearby, and it's the route most UK couples take. A symbolic ceremony or blessing carries no legal weight but can be held anywhere you like — on the beach at Galu Seaside, in the gardens at Lexeko, wherever suits — with the legal formalities handled separately, often quietly at the town hall the same trip. A Greek Orthodox church wedding is a distinct religious ceremony with its own requirements. Many of the couples we photograph in Larnaca do a short civil ceremony first and treat their symbolic celebration as the main event.
How soon will we get our Larnaca wedding photos?
The full gallery — every image hand-edited in our documentary style, whether it was shot at Lexeko, on the sand at Galu Seaside, or at the town hall itself — arrives in around six to ten weeks. As your Cyprus wedding photographer, we never batch-process or template a gallery; every frame gets looked at individually.
