Hiring an Ibiza Wedding DJ — What Should You Consider?
Ibiza has been the world's most famous island for music since long before it became known for weddings, so when it comes to entertainment, the bar here is set higher than almost anywhere else on earth. We asked Paul Linney of Spectrum Disco — an Ibiza wedding DJ we trust completely — to put together honest, practical advice for choosing entertainment for your day on the island.
Choosing the Right DJ for Your Wedding
Ibiza is full of DJs, but not all of them are right for a wedding. Most are brilliant in a club or bar, in front of a crowd that's already there to dance to one kind of music. A wedding is a different job, even here — you need someone who can read a dancefloor that spans three generations and several countries, and who has the tunes to match every one of them.
Look for a DJ who asks about your guest list before they ask about your playlist. The right person will want to know who's coming, what they'll respond to, and how the night is meant to build — not just hand you a generic Ibiza set and hope for the best.

Noise Limits and Sound Systems
One thing that catches couples out is Ibiza's noise regulations. Most municipalities on the island enforce an outdoor curfew on amplified music somewhere between 11pm and midnight, and the exact cut-off depends on where you're marrying — your venue or planner will know the local rule, and larger events sometimes need a separate permit. Breach it and the authorities can shut a party down on the spot, so it's worth building your evening around it rather than finding out the hard way.
Most venues will only allow their own installed sound system to be used, which is usually more than good enough for a wedding. If you want to keep going past the curfew, a venue with an enclosed indoor space lets the party move inside at full volume — and after that, Ibiza's clubs are still there for anyone determined to dance until sunrise.

Live Musicians Alongside Your DJ
Worth considering is hiring a musician to play alongside the DJ for part of the night — a saxophonist over the first hour of dancing, a drummer building energy into a big track, or a violinist during the reception. Ibiza has genuinely excellent musicians used to working weddings, and layering live instruments over a DJ set is an easy way to make the night feel a level more produced without changing the whole plan.
Whatever you choose, Ibiza is one of the best islands on earth for this — get the entertainment right and you'll create memories that last considerably longer than the night itself.

If Spectrum Disco sounds like the right fit for your day, Paul and the team can be found through their usual channels — or get in touch with us directly and we're always happy to help you think through entertainment as Ibiza wedding photographers who've seen a lot of wedding nights unfold.

Great entertainment changes what we get to shoot
We're not DJs, but we've photographed enough Ibiza dancefloors to know what makes one work.
We Shoot Until the Party Ends
Our coverage doesn't stop at the first dance — we're still there for whatever the DJ builds towards later in the night, cake-cutting to closing track.
The last dance gets the same attention as the first.
Two Photographers, One Story
With our Premium Plus and Luxury collections, Nick and Aimie shoot together — both sides of the dancefloor, covered at once. Whichever collection you choose, it is always Nick or Aimie, never an associate you've never met.
Exactly who you see is exactly who shows up.
We Know The Island's Venues
Which venues allow their own sound system past the curfew, which have an indoor space to move the party into — we've worked at enough of them to know before you ask.
We've seen what works at your venue before.
