Zoe & Oliver's Liopetro Wedding in Kouklia, Paphos
Zoe and Oliver have known each other for fifteen years and been together for six of them, years that brought a full house renovation, a dog called Lottie, a daughter who has just turned three, and Zoe's two horses. They got engaged in the Cotswolds in December 2024 and, after plenty of holidays in Paphos, already knew where they wanted to marry. On 15 October 2026 they did, at Liopetro, the stone estate on the hill above Kouklia. Their brief for the day was "fun, romantic, timeless, elegant, classy", with a lit-up dinner and guests having a really good time. It rained on the day, and it didn't stop a thing: the ceremony, the party and everything in between went ahead, and the rain only added to the photos.

Morning at Liopetro, Kouklia
Zoe and her bridesmaids arrived at Liopetro at eleven, with the whole estate to themselves: Liopetro hosts one wedding a day. From its walls you can see across the Palaepaphos ruins to Panagia Katholiki, the medieval church beside Aphrodite's ancient sanctuary.

The details
Zoe's invitation, rings, pearl-studded shoes and a bottle of Miss Dior, gathered in the morning light, with the dress hanging against the stone outside.

Into the dress, with Mum
Time with her mum was high on Zoe's list for the morning. In fuchsia from hat to hem, her mum fastened the dress and settled the veil, and the rattan mirror on the bridal-suite wall framed the two of them perfectly.

Ready for the aisle
Thick stone walls, warm lanterns and soft light from the windows: Liopetro's bridal suite does a lot of the work for a bridal portrait. Veil down, bouquet in hand, Zoe was ready.

A letter before the ceremony
A few quiet minutes on the edge of the bed with a handwritten letter, before the room filled up again.

The bridesmaids see the dress
The bridesmaids lined up in blush pink with their backs to the room while Zoe stepped in behind them, their little girl in her flower-girl dress among them. Then they turned round.

Dad's first look
Zoe's dad came to the door of the suite, saw her, and needed a moment before he could come in and give her a kiss.

Oliver getting ready
Across the estate, Oliver got ready against bare stone with his groomsmen: cufflinks, bow tie, a hand with the jacket and plenty of laughing, before the guests started arriving at three. We kept this part of the story in black and white.

The ceremony terrace at Liopetro
Zoe and Oliver chose a civil ceremony at half past three on Liopetro's circular stone terrace, which looks out over the Kouklia countryside to the sea. It was set with rows of wooden cross-back chairs and an aisle lined with flowers.

Flowers by the sea
Pink and green hydrangeas and roses spilling from cream plinths, posies along the aisle, and baskets of paper fans and dried wheat waiting at the end of each row for an October afternoon.

Oliver and his groomsmen take their places
The groomsmen walked Oliver down through the topiary and onto the terrace, where he waited at the front with the sea at his back.

Down the aisle
Zoe's mum took her seat, and then Zoe came out between the hedges on her dad's arm, to a terrace full of guests on their feet.

Vows above the sea
Zoe and Oliver said their vows under the trees at the edge of the terrace, with nothing behind them but the Paphos coastline: exactly the sea-view shot Zoe had asked us for.

Married, in a cloud of pink smoke
The smoke bomb was their own idea, timed for the first kiss, and it sent pink and green smoke up over the whole terrace. Then a few minutes back at the arch for just the two of them, and one of the lace parasols Zoe had planned for the walk back up the aisle.

Drinks in the Liopetro gardens
Drinks ran from four until six in the gardens, with our own Aimie Wild singing by the old wooden doors, a gelato cart, and a mirrored sign that became the most popular photo spot of the afternoon.

Sunset by the stone walls
Zoe wanted sunset portraits, so as the light softened we took them out through the gates and along the old stone walls on the edge of Kouklia. It's one of the things we love most about Liopetro wedding photography: ruins, walls and quiet lanes are all a few minutes' walk from the terrace.

Golden hour on the Kouklia road
Then the sun dropped towards the sea and lit the road orange, still shining wet from the rain. Low, warm October light like this is why we never tire of Paphos wedding photography, and Zoe and Oliver made the most of every minute.

Walking back to Liopetro
One last walk back up the hill towards the venue, hand in hand, as the sky faded from orange to pink.

Liopetro after dark
Zoe had asked for a lit-up dinner, and Liopetro delivered: walls of fairy lights, linen signs, a lantern-lit path past the topiary and the seating plan waiting at the entrance.

Tables dressed for dinner
Guests sat down at six to long wooden tables with blush runners, hydrangeas and candlelight under a ceiling of fairy lights. Zack played sax for the cake cutting, tambourines went round every table, and speeches came before dinner.

First dance under the fairy lights
Their first dance was on the terrace under the lights, and halfway through, gerbs sent cold sparks up behind them.

Goodnight from Liopetro
Zoe asked for a photo of the two of them at Liopetro's doors, so that's where we left them, with the party still going behind them. Where is Liopetro wedding venue?
Liopetro is a private wedding venue in Kouklia, in the hills above Paphos, right next to the Palaepaphos archaeological site. It's around 25 minutes from Paphos International Airport. Our Liopetro venue guide covers the estate in more detail.
Can you get ready at Liopetro on the morning of the wedding?
Yes. Liopetro has stone-walled suites for getting ready, so like Zoe and Oliver you can spend the whole day at one address, from hair and make-up to the last dance.
Where are the best photo spots at Liopetro?
The bridal suites, the ceremony terrace with its sea view, the topiary gardens and the fairy-lit reception terrace are all inside the gates. Just outside are the Palaepaphos ruins, Panagia Katholiki and the quiet Kouklia roads, which is where we took Zoe and Oliver for golden hour.
Do you photograph other weddings at Liopetro?
Yes, it's the venue we photograph more than any other. We live in Kouklia, so Liopetro is our local. See more of our Liopetro weddings.
