Liopetro Wedding Venue, Kouklia
Set on a hilltop above Kouklia, in the parish where myth places Aphrodite's birth, Liopetro pairs old Cypriot stonework with sweeping views out to the Mediterranean. It's the venue we return to more often than any other — not because it's ours, but because after 400+ weddings here we've learned exactly how the light moves across its terraces, and exactly why couples fall for it the moment they arrive. As Paphos wedding photographers living in Kouklia itself, it is also, quite literally, our local.
Where Liopetro sits
Liopetro is a short drive from Kouklia village, in the hills above Paphos — the same stretch of coastline where, in myth, Aphrodite was said to rise from the sea. The estate borders the wider Palaepaphos archaeological site, which is part of why the surrounding landscape looks the way it does in photographs: old stone ruins, wild grass, and a horizon that turns gold for the last hour before sunset. Paphos International Airport is around 25 minutes away by car, making it one of the more straightforward Cyprus venues to reach for UK and European guests.

The ceremony terrace
At the heart of the estate is a circular stone terrace, open to the sky and framed by gardens on every side. It flexes easily between an intimate signing table for twenty guests and full rows of seating for a much larger wedding party, and the on-site team will reconfigure it around whatever arch, florals or seating plan you bring. String lighting is rigged permanently overhead, so what works for a midday ceremony photographs just as well after dark.

Gardens, courtyards and quiet corners
Beyond the main terrace, Liopetro is full of the kind of corners a documentary photographer looks for without needing to ask — a bougainvillea-covered wall here, a hand-carved wooden heart hanging from an olive tree there, wicker lanterns strung between the branches. Guests tend to drift into these pockets of the garden during the reception, which is exactly where some of our favourite unposed images from the day usually happen.

Getting ready at Liopetro
The estate has dedicated rooms for the bridal party to get ready in on the morning of the wedding — thick stone walls, soft natural light through small windows, and enough space for hair and makeup teams to work without anyone feeling rushed. It means the whole day, start to finish, can happen at a single address.

From ceremony to sunset portraits
One of the quieter advantages of marrying at Liopetro is what sits directly next door. The Palaepaphos archaeological site — ancient stonework, olive trees and open ground — makes for the kind of golden-hour portrait backdrop that usually takes an hour's drive to reach elsewhere in Paphos. Here, it's a short walk from the terrace, which is where many of the images on this page were taken.

After dark
As the sun goes down, the string lighting takes over and the terrace becomes a proper party — a paved dance floor, a bar area, and enough open ground for a first dance under fairy lights, sparklers, or a cold-spark send-off if you want one. Liopetro's late licence means the evening doesn't have to wrap up early.

Owners & hospitality
Liopetro is run by Makis and Ifigenia, alongside a team who host weddings here week in, week out and know exactly how to keep a day running smoothly without ever feeling like they're managing it. The food is genuinely excellent — not a small thing at a wedding venue — and it's part of why so many of the couples we've photographed here say the venue felt less like a booking and more like being looked after for a weekend.

Good to know
Liopetro suits both intimate elopements and larger celebrations comfortably, and the team will talk you through capacity for your specific setup. There's parking on site, and the terrace and main gardens are level and easy to move around, though some of the older stone paths are better suited to flat shoes than heels. The wedding season here runs roughly April to November, with May–June and September–October offering the most reliable light and temperature for photography.

Why couples choose Liopetro
A private hilltop estate above Kouklia — old stonework, sea views, and a landscape few other Paphos venues can match.
Ancient ruins next door
The estate borders the Palaepaphos archaeological site, so golden-hour portraits happen a short walk from the terrace rather than a drive across Paphos.
A backdrop most venues can't offer.
One address, all day
Getting-ready rooms, ceremony terrace, reception and dance floor all sit within the same estate, so nobody's day is spent in transit between locations.
Everything happens in one place.
Hosted, not just hired
Owners Makis and Ifigenia and their on-site team run weddings here week in, week out, and it shows in how smoothly the day is looked after.
A team that knows exactly what they're doing.

How many guests can Liopetro host?
Liopetro works well for both small, intimate weddings and larger celebrations of a hundred guests or more — the terrace and gardens can be configured either way. Let us know your numbers and we'll help confirm capacity with the venue directly.
Is there parking on site?
Yes, there's parking within the estate, so guests don't need to arrange transfers unless they're coming from further afield in Paphos or Limassol.
Can Liopetro cater our wedding breakfast and reception?
Yes — catering is handled on site by the venue's own team, who can put together a menu around your guest numbers and any dietary requirements.
Are there rooms to get ready in on the morning of the wedding?
Yes, the estate has private rooms for the bridal party to get ready in, so hair, makeup and the whole morning can happen at the same address as the ceremony.
What's the best time of year to marry at Liopetro?
May, June, September and October give the most reliable combination of warm-but-comfortable temperatures and soft evening light. July and August are hotter and brighter, which suits a later ceremony time; winter months are quieter and more affordable if an intimate, low-key wedding is what you're after.
Is Liopetro within easy reach of Paphos and the airport?
Yes — Liopetro sits around 25 minutes from Paphos International Airport and a similar distance from Paphos old town, which makes it a straightforward base for both the couple and travelling guests.
