Well guys, the much anticipated moment is finally here, because today, we get to share our first covid-19 wedding in Cyprus with you since lockdown! This year has been a rollercoaster like no other, and we really hope you’re all hanging in there and riding it out okay.
We were super stoked to be back as a Vasilias wedding photographer to capture Liam and Chloe’s Cyprus wedding, and even more stoked that their wedding was able to go ahead!
We caught up with the happy couple once they touched down back home to get their scoop on their epic celebration, proof that you can still have the dream Cyprus wedding in the time of covid-19.
Love, actually
We’ve got to hand it to him – Liam has one of the most romantic proposal stories we’ve encountered as a Vasilias wedding photographer.
“I set out the hallway lined with candles and rose petals and created a number of boards with writing on (similar to Love Actually). When Chloe walked through the door I had Nuvole Bianche playing and went through the cards before going down on one knee to ask her.”
Made in Cyprus
There are hundreds of reasons couples fall head over heels for a Cyprus wedding. The gorgeous landscapes, sun-kissed weather, dreamy venues. But for Chloe and Liam, Cyprus was a destination with a huge amount of meaning, too.
“We met in Cyprus while both working a season in Aiya Napa,” the couple explain. “We also wanted a small wedding with close family and friends and imagined a rustic villa wedding. Once we saw Vasilias Nikoklis Inn and learned the venue had a cat (we’re both cat lovers!), we were 100% sold,” they grin.
Aisle style
The bride glowed in a whimsical lace gown with a plunging V-neckline, off-the-shoulder capped lace sleeves and an elegant A-line silhouette. Chloe was joined by her bridesmaids in steel blue gowns.
The groom looked equally dapper in a cream three-piece, coupled with a light blue shirt.
I do
The beauty of a Cyprus wedding is that so much of it can be celebrated in the open air. A beautiful way to soak up the experience at any time, and especially helpful for our first Cyprus wedding since covid-19.
“We loved that our wedding was so intimate, shared with only our closest friends and family,” the couple smile. “We married in the courtyard beneath vines and trees.”
Married together with gorgeous golden stone, sunlight dappling through and natural beauty aplenty, capturing the beauty comes effortlessly as a Vasilias wedding photographer.
Blooming beautiful
The theme of natural elegance continued throughout the couple’s celebrations, with trestle tables adorned with greenery and a canopy of suspended white wisteria blooms.
“Chloe is vegan and I’m a vegetarian, so we opted for Vasilias’ vegan/vegetarian menu for our meal. Due to the pure excitement I will admit I didn’t eat much but it was lovely,” Liam reveals.
“We also had a semi-naked vegan cake, which was vanilla sponge and strawberry jam. Seasonal berry decorations matched our colour scheme.”
As the festivities continued and the daylight dipped, it was time to light the sparklers! The couple enjoyed an enchanting first dance amid beautiful firework displays as DJ Gavin from Definitive Disco took the stage.
Choosing their Vasilias wedding photographer
“We had already seen Nick and Aimie’s work before we booked the venue and knew we wanted to go with them. At one point we didn’t think we were getting married in Cyprus as the 10th August wasn’t available, but by some luck it became available and we instantly contacted them.”
Wise words
Chloe and Liam’s big day was our first Cyprus wedding since covid-19 and it’s fair to say that planning during a pandemic comes with its challenges! So, while we look ahead to light at the end of the tunnel now, we also felt it was super important to share Chloe and Liam’s advice and experience to help couples who want to dream it and do it in times like these.
“The hardest part about it all was the week leading up to our flight out to Cyprus,” the couple explain. “We were waiting for the Cyprus government to confirm we could enter the country and with COVID-19 this made it slightly tricky as we had to organize 17 guests, making sure they had all obtained a test. We then had to wait and pray that no one came back positive.”
“I’d advise future couples to take a laid-back approach. Not so laid-back that you don’t do anything, but don’t stress too much. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. Control the controllable.”
“It did make it super easy that everyone we dealt with in Cyprus was super awesome and helpful.”
Keep dreaming
As their dedicated Cyprus wedding photographer, we were super excited that Chloe and Liam’s dream day could go ahead. We poured our hearts and souls into capturing every drop of the magic, and we’d love to do the same for you.
