Cyprus Wine Museum Wedding Photography, Erimi

Few places in Cyprus wear their history as lightly as the Cyprus Wine Museum in Erimi. Stone courtyards draped in vines and bougainvillea, a candlelit hall with an open fireplace, and a village that has been making wine for some five and a half thousand years: it suits couples who want character and warmth rather than a hotel ballroom. As Cyprus wedding photographers for well over fifteen years, we at Beziique would be delighted to photograph a celebration here, whether that is a long table for sixty or a courtyard full of dancing.

About the Cyprus Wine Museum

The museum sits on Pafos Street in Erimi, about 13km west of Limassol on the old road towards Paphos, in a traditional Cypriot building that has been in founder Anastasia Guy's family for generations. Its theme is the island's long relationship with wine, and the surroundings back that up: Kolossi Castle, the medieval home of Commandaria, is close by, as are the ruins of ancient Kourion and Curium Beach.

For functions, the museum offers three spaces. Saint Hilarion Hall is the indoor room, with medieval-style stonework, an open fireplace and the wine collection on display; it seats up to 60 (70 standing) and is available all year. The Knights Courtyard is the largest, an amphitheatre-shaped space enclosed by stone walls and bougainvillea, seating up to 270 (350 standing). The Commandaria Courtyard, dressed with vines and old winemaking artefacts, seats up to 180 (300 standing). The two courtyards are used from April to October, and because Saint Hilarion Hall links them, larger parties can flow through all three.

The museum lists wedding ceremonies and receptions among its functions. Catering is handled by professional caterers who can work around dietary needs, and the museum can add wine pairings from its own range and live music from the Commandaria Orchestra. For confirmation on dates, what's included and how the legal side works on site, speak to the museum or your planner.

Photographing a wedding among stone and vines

We haven't photographed a wedding at the Cyprus Wine Museum yet, and that's one reason we'd love to. Courtyards like these are a gift for documentary work: warm stone walls throw soft, flattering light back onto faces, the vines overhead break up harsh sun into dappled shade, and the old presses and storage jars give every candid frame a sense of place without anyone having to pose beside them.

As evening falls, the courtyards change character, with lanterns and candlelight taking over from the daylight, and that's when the best dancing pictures happen. Before dinner, a short drive to the honey-coloured walls of Kolossi Castle or the clifftops above Kourion could make a lovely, unhurried portrait session if your timings allow. Our portfolio shows how we work: quietly, following the day as it unfolds, and stepping in only to guide you gently for portraits.

If the museum is on your shortlist, please get in touch and tell us about your plans. We'd love to hear them.

Getting married in Limassol

Erimi falls within Limassol district, so the practical side follows the same pattern as the rest of the area: you give notice in person at the municipality, and you can marry 15 clear days later on an ordinary licence or sooner with a special licence. Our guide to getting married in Limassol explains the steps and fees, and our civil wedding in Cyprus page covers how the ceremony itself works. As Cyprus wedding photographers who regularly work across the district, we cover the whole coast as a Limassol wedding photographer.

If you love the idea of wine as part of the day, the wineries around Omodos, such as Oenou Yi, are worth comparing, and if your guests would rather be by the sea, Columbia Beach Resort at Pissouri is a short drive west of Erimi.

  • How many guests can the Cyprus Wine Museum hold?

It depends on the space. The museum gives seated capacities of up to 60 in Saint Hilarion Hall, 180 in the Commandaria Courtyard and 270 in the Knights Courtyard, with higher numbers for standing receptions. Because the hall connects the two courtyards, larger celebrations can use all three areas together.

  • Can we have a winter wedding at the museum?

Saint Hilarion Hall is available all year round, and its fireplace makes it a cosy choice for a smaller winter celebration. The open-air courtyards are used from April to October; outside those months the museum suggests a marquee and heating.

  • Will we need to give notice before our wedding?

For a legal ceremony, yes. You apply together in person at the municipality, and on an ordinary licence you can marry at least 15 clear days later (and within three months). A special licence lets you marry sooner, sometimes as soon as the next working day. In Limassol the 2026 fees are €128 for an ordinary licence and €282 for a special licence, plus €130 on Saturdays or outside office hours. There's no residency requirement, but most couples arrive about three working days early.

  • How quickly will we receive our photographs?

Your complete, individually edited gallery arrives within 6–10 weeks. If you would like to share some pictures sooner, our Premium Plus and Luxury collections include delivery within 72 hours.
