Amavi Wedding Photography, Paphos

Amavi is a hotel built entirely around two people. This adults-only, couples-only five-star sits on the Paphos seafront with every room facing the Mediterranean, which makes it a natural fit for couples who want a small, intimate wedding rather than a big production — an elopement, or a ceremony with just your closest family before a long, unhurried dinner by the sea. We are Nick and Aimie Wild, and we have been photographing weddings in Cyprus since 2008. Amavi is a venue we would genuinely love to photograph, and if it is on your shortlist we would be glad to hear from you.

About Amavi

Part of the Cyprus-based Kanika Hotels & Resorts group under its MadeForTwo label, Amavi opened in 2019 and was designed from the outset for couples only, with a minimum age of 18. It stands on Poseidonos Avenue in Kato Paphos, on a sandy Blue Flag beach, and the hotel's own fact sheet puts it around 1.8 km — roughly a twenty-minute walk — from the medieval castle and the old harbour. Paphos airport is about 14.5 km away.

All 155 rooms and suites have an unobstructed sea view, ranging from deluxe rooms and junior suites to cabanas with a private garden or pool and honeymoon and executive suites. There are four restaurants, including the open-air rooftop Immenso at the highest point of the hotel and the open-air Fortolana, which serves contemporary Cypriot food, plus the Selene cocktail bar with its outdoor terrace lounge, three pools and the Evera spa.

For weddings, Kanika's planners currently list the Selene Terrace, which looks over the landscaped gardens towards the sea, for ceremonies and cocktail receptions with small numbers. The team also helps with marriage paperwork and accompanies couples to the town hall. Because the hotel is deliberately intimate, it pays to confirm guest numbers and dining options with the wedding team early on.

Photographing a wedding at Amavi

We should be upfront: we have not yet photographed a wedding at Amavi. What we can say is that a wedding of this size suits the way we work. With only a handful of guests there is no crowd to manage, just people, and the small exchanges between them — a hand on a shoulder, a toast over dinner — become the story of the day.

The hotel looks south-west over the sea, so late-afternoon light comes in off the water and the sea-view terraces and rooftop give clean, open horizons for portraits. A walk along the seafront path towards the harbour and the castle adds a sense of place, with the old stone, the fishing boats and the evening crowds giving variety without leaving town. Our documentary approach means we follow what happens, with relaxed, lightly guided portraits woven in.

You can see how we tell a wedding day in our portfolio. If you are planning a wedding at Amavi, please get in touch — we would love to hear what you have in mind.

Getting married in Paphos

Kato Paphos is one of the easiest places in Cyprus to plan a wedding from the UK: the airport is close, the harbour and the archaeological park are on the doorstep, and there are hotels for every kind of guest. Our guide to getting married in Paphos explains the town hall process, and the Cyprus marriage requirements for UK couples sets out the documents you will need. If a smaller celebration is the plan, our round-up of small and intimate wedding venues in Cyprus is a useful comparison.

Amavi shares this stretch of seafront with other Paphos favourites such as the Almyra Hotel and the Annabelle, both a short stroll towards the harbour. Amavi is also well inside the 20 miles from our home in Kouklia that we cover without a travel fee. As Cyprus wedding photographers living locally, we know this coastline well, and you can read more about working with a Paphos wedding photographer on our dedicated page.

  • Can children attend a wedding at Amavi?

Amavi is classified as a couples-only, adults-only (18+) hotel, so it is not designed with children in mind. If you have younger family members you would like to include, talk to the Kanika wedding team before booking so you know exactly what is possible.

  • How many guests can we have at Amavi?

Amavi is geared towards small weddings. The Selene Terrace is currently listed for ceremonies and cocktail receptions with a small group, and capacities can change, so ask the hotel's wedding planners for up-to-date numbers for the ceremony, drinks and dinner.

  • What does the town hall charge for a wedding in Paphos?

Couples apply in person at the municipality. In 2026 Paphos charges €128.15 for ordinary notice, where you marry at least 15 clear days after applying, or €281.92 for a special licence, which allows a date sooner — sometimes the next working day. Whether the legal ceremony itself can take place at the hotel is something your planner or the venue will confirm.

  • How quickly will we receive our photographs?

Your full gallery arrives within 6–10 weeks. If you would rather not wait, our Premium Plus and Luxury collections include 72-hour delivery.
