Base Events Wedding Photography, Paphos
BASE Events is a modern, party-ready venue on the coast near Paphos International Airport: a pool, two big bars, a stage and gardens looking out to sea, with the beach right beside it. It suits couples who want a relaxed, sociable day that turns into a proper party after dinner, and who like the idea of having the whole place to themselves. We are Nick and Aimie Wild, a husband-and-wife photography team covering Cyprus weddings since 2008, and BASE is a venue we would be delighted to photograph.
About BASE Events
The venue opened in 2013 and sits on the Paphos airport road, a few minutes from the terminal and a short drive from Paphos town. Its own website describes a beachfront space with a sea-view garden, a swimming pool, walking paths with evening lighting and a large car park, and it hosts everything from weddings and christenings to corporate events. An indoor area means it can be used all year round, which makes it a practical choice for a spring or autumn wedding when the weather is less predictable.
Cyprus planner Wedding Box lists several ceremony settings, from the beach for up to 80 guests to smaller set-ups called Blue Horizon and Bougainvillea Bliss and a covered veranda, each for around 50, with receptions for up to 120 and the indoor space for larger numbers. It also notes exclusive use, with one private event a day, and music permitted until midnight. Another planner, Weddings in Paphos, offers the venue for a reception or for a ceremony and reception together, and the venue says it hosts both civil and symbolic weddings; your planner will confirm the legal arrangements for a civil ceremony on site.
Our approach to photographing BASE Events
We have not yet photographed a wedding at BASE Events, but we would love the chance. Venues like this are all about the atmosphere, and atmosphere is what our documentary style is built to capture: the welcome drinks by the pool, guests drifting down to the sand, the moment the stage lights come on and the dance floor fills.
A beach ceremony gives wide, open light and a clean horizon, while the shaded greenery and fairy lights around the garden come into their own as the sun goes down. We would slip away with you for ten or fifteen minutes at the water's edge in the last of the evening light, then go straight back to documenting the party, which, with a stage and two bars, we suspect will be a good one.
You can see how we capture a celebration from start to finish in our portfolio, and if BASE is where you are heading, get in touch to tell us about your plans. The venue's own site is baseeventscyprus.com.
Getting married in Paphos
BASE is a short drive from both Paphos town, where most couples complete their paperwork at the municipality, and from our home in Kouklia. Our guide to getting married in Paphos covers the process, and if a beach ceremony is what appeals, our overview of beach weddings in Cyprus is a useful read alongside it.
As Cyprus wedding photographers who have spent years on this stretch of coast, we are always glad to help you plan around light and timings. If you are still comparing venues, Sense by the Beach offers another relaxed seafront setting near Paphos, and our own home venue, Liopetro, is in the hills above Kouklia. Can we have our ceremony on the beach at BASE Events?
Yes, a beach ceremony is one of the venue's options; Wedding Box lists it for up to 80 guests, alongside smaller ceremony spots around the grounds. A symbolic ceremony can be held on the sand without any legal restrictions; for a legal civil ceremony, your planner or the venue will confirm the arrangements.
Is BASE Events exclusive use?
According to Wedding Box, the venue hosts one private event per day, so you would have the space to yourselves, with music allowed until midnight.
What happens if the weather turns?
BASE has an indoor area, which is why it can host events all year round. It is reassuring for spring, autumn and winter dates, and it can also take larger receptions than the outdoor spaces.
How quickly will we receive our photographs?
Your full gallery, edited by hand, arrives within 6 to 10 weeks. If you would like a head start, our Premium Plus and Luxury collections include 72-hour delivery.
